A community offering to begin our day together in a moment of meditation. Metta meditation is a loving kindness practice which works to cultivate compassion within us and for others.
For an optimal meditation experience begin by arranging your home environment to support minimal distractions and meaningful reminders. Then arrange your body with the seven pointed posture of Vairocana:
(1) Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position
(2) Sit up straight
(3) Chin slightly tucked so the back of your neck and entire spine is aligned.
(4) Let your shoulders relax
(5) Place your hands in your lap and allow your left hand to receive your right with palms facing up and thumbs touching, or place them palms down on your knees.
(6) Open your eyes and gaze toward the tip of your nose, or if you prefer, close your eyes.
(7) Let the tip of your tongue gently touch the upper palate.
