WheelHouse Yoga

This mindfully paced practice incorporates postures and transitions linked with breath to maximize the benefit to your body and mind. The class concludes with Yoga Nidra - Yoga Nidra refers to the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state...a lucid state but fully conscious! The practice of yoga relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety. The autonomic symptoms of high anxiety such as headache, giddiness, chest pain, palpitations, sweating and abdominal pain respond well. It has been used to help soldiers from war cope with post traumatic stress disorder.
This class is appropriate for all levels.

I believe that yoga is the most powerful tool in the world to elevate ourselves, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. We can refine our bodies through the physical study of yoga postures and clarify our minds through powerful meditations and visualizations. Through this transformation, we begin to manifest our destiny and fulfill our life’s work.
My practice started in the the 26+2 hatha yoga tradition. After 3 classes I was hooked, and I saw the benefits quickly: better flexibility, increased mood, and decreased weigh. I wanted to serve others and share what I had learned by studying to be a teacher, and I attended Hot Yoga Teacher Training in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. In addition to teaching, I spent several years competing on the national level, and I enjoyed the mental clarity that developed from asana (posture) demonstration.
More recently, my personal practice has evolved to include the more subtle aspects of yoga, as well as different styles, like Yin and Vinyasa. This led me on a journey to New York City to study asana, mantra, and kriya yoga with Jared McCann, where I spent two summers with him and graduated from his advanced RYT-500 program. I was able to find a system of meditation and yoga asanas that leaves me feeling comfortable and stable in my body and mind. I hope to share some of this with you the next time you take my class. If you feel that yoga has changed your life for the better, be sure to share with me—I would love to hear about your yoga journey!
